Do Vizio TVs Have Bluetooth? (Two Workarounds!)

September 7, 2022 by Chris Godwin

Nowadays, most Smart TVs include new features that satisfy the needs of users. Bluetooth is an example of a component like this.

But do Vizio TVs have Bluetooth?

Bluetooth allows you to connect your mobile phone and other electrical devices, such as headphones and MP3 players, to your TV.

For example, you can install the remote app from your cellphone and use it on your TV after pairing it via Bluetooth with the device.

If you’re intrigued about Bluetooth, most Vizio TVs support it.

Vizio TVs are reasonably priced and have excellent picture quality. Even better, you can wirelessly connect your Vizio TV to your Bluetooth devices.

To do so successfully, examine whether or not your TV has Bluetooth.

Bluetooth is incorporated into the majority of Vizio televisions. To be sure, consult the owner’s manual, TV settings, or remote control features. If yours lacks this feature, a Bluetooth adaptor can be used.

Once you’ve determined whether your Vizio TV has Bluetooth, you may select the best method for connecting it to your audio devices.

Do Vizio TVs have Bluetooth?

No, Vizio TVs do not support Bluetooth, nor you can use the Vizio SmartCast app as a workaround. While some Vizio TVs offer “Bluetooth LE” (low energy Bluetooth), this is exclusively for connecting your TV to the SmartCast mobile app! Bluetooth headphones or speakers cannot be connected.

You should know this about Bluetooth before buying Vizio TV

If you’re shopping for a TV with Bluetooth, there’s something you should know before purchasing a Vizio TV.

Bluetooth is supported on Vizio TVs, but only on Bluetooth LE devices. This is because they are a low-energy form of Bluetooth.

The difference between a standard Bluetooth device and a Bluetooth LE device is that the low-energy device can retain the same communication range while using significantly less power.

Bluetooth LE devices use the same amount of radiofrequency as standard Bluetooth devices, but their modulation technique is simpler.

Make sure your Bluetooth device is low-energy before attempting to connect it to your Vizio TV. This information should be available in your device’s handbook or on its official website.

How To Pair A Bluetooth LE Device To Your Vizio TV?

To connect a device with your Vizio TV, you must first download the Vizio Smartcast app. This app is available for download on any mobile device, including a phone, iPad, or tablet.

Once you’ve downloaded the app, you may use it as a remote to control your Vizio TV from your mobile device.

To obtain the Vizio Smartcast app, follow these steps:

  • Open the app store once you have a suitable smartphone. Download the app by searching for “Vizio Smartcast.”
  • You will now be prompted to create an account, but if you are not ready to do so, you can move ahead and enjoy the app as a guest.
  • The option “Choose A Device To Control” is located at the bottom of the screen. Once you’ve added your TV to the list, its name should appear in this column. Select “Add Device” and follow the setup instructions to add your Vizio TV to this list.
  • After you’ve added the Vizio TV, you may use the Vizio Smartcast app as a remote control.

Vizio SmartCast app

Vizio’s in-house streaming platform is called SmartCast. It is incorporated into Vizio TVs and allows you to stream, control, and connect to the content on your television.

If you’re familiar with Roku, SmartCast is essentially the same thing.

Stream

On the streaming front, SmartCast comes pre-loaded with a plethora of streaming apps such as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube TV, Disney+, HBO Max, and others.

Of course, you’ll need to subscribe to these services separately to utilize them, but the apps are available straight on your Vizio TV.

Control

There is also a Vizio SmartCast mobile app available for free download from Google Play or the App Store.

Download Vizio SmartCast Mobile App

Once downloaded, you may link your TV to your phone (through the Vizio TV’s built-in Bluetooth LE) and use your phone as a remote!

You may even control your TV with vocal commands via the app.

Other advantages include the ability to display a whole keyboard when typing or searching for a title (typing with the Vizio remote can be flat-out painful, so this is a pretty neat feature).

Cast

Finally, you may use Apple Airplay or Chromecast to cast your phone, tablet, or laptop directly to your Vizio TV.

So, if you want to show some family photos at your next gathering or even cast your next Peloton cycle directly to your TV, you may do so.

The Vizio team is constantly working on and improving SmartCast, which is a fantastic feature. When an update is available, you will receive it automatically and for free via a software update!

How To Know If Your TV Has Bluetooth Pairing Capability?

Before we proceed, you must first determine whether your television supports Bluetooth pairing.

If you have a Vizio Smart TV, you can skip this step because all Vizio smart TVs include Bluetooth pairing functionality.

The following procedures will tell you if your TV supports Bluetooth pairing:

  1.  Review the User Manual: If you’re one of the lucky individuals who keep their user manuals, you’ll be able to determine whether or not your TV has Bluetooth pairing capability in no time. All you have to do is look through your user handbook to see if it mentions Bluetooth anyplace.
  2. Browse the Internet: You’ll have to do a little more work if you can’t find your TV’s user manual anywhere or if you’ve already discarded it. All you have to do is go to your TV manufacturer’s website, discover the model number, and see if there’s any information on your TV’s Bluetooth capabilities.

  3. Check Your TV Remote: If none of the above work, you might check your television’s remote. If you notice a Bluetooth icon on a button or a Smart Settings button on your remote, it means that your TV can connect to wireless headphones.

Enabling Bluetooth on your Vizio TV using a workaround

The good news is that there are two viable workarounds if you absolutely must utilize your Bluetooth headphones or speakers with your Vizio TV.

The first is to purchase a Bluetooth transmitter, and the second is to connect directly to your Vizio TV’s Audio Out ports.

Bluetooth transmitter

A Bluetooth transmitter is essentially a device that plugs into a non-Bluetooth-enabled device (in this case, your Vizio smart TV) and converts it to a fully functional Bluetooth device.

Nowadays, technology has advanced to the point where these devices have very little latency (meaning the sound will come near in real-time, without delay).

If you’re considering this option, I highly recommend the TOKSEL Visible Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter (check the price on Amazon). This device has received rave reviews and will pair your smart TV with Bluetooth in seconds.

This one does require an AUX jack on your TV, so make sure you have one before purchasing.

If your TV lacks a headphone jack, the Avantree Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter will suffice. It has the same great reviews, but it has more setup choices (Optical, Aux, RCA, USB).

“Audio Out” port

If you don’t want to buy a new device, try connecting your Bluetooth device to your TV via the Audio Out ports on the back.

The trick here is to verify your Bluetooth device’s available connections and see if they are compatible with your Vizo TV’s Audio Out ports.

“Audio Out” port

Essentially, you want an Aux port (headphone jack) on your Bluetooth device and a Red and White Analog out connector on your TV. If you have that, you should be able to connect directly!

Can you use Vizio SmartCast as a Bluetooth workaround?

If you’ve previously had a Roku TV, you might be wondering if the Vizio SmartCast software can be used as a Bluetooth workaround.

Roku TVs, like Vizio TVs, do not have built-in Bluetooth, but they do offer a smartphone app that allows you to use your phone as a remote.

This Roku software includes a function called “private listening,” which allows you to connect your Bluetooth audio device to your phone and listen to your TV through it!

Can you use Vizio SmartCast as a Bluetooth workaround

Unfortunately, this is not currently possible with the Vizio SmartCast app.

How Can You Connect Vizio TV To A Speaker?

Although Bluetooth is not an option, you can connect your Vizio TV to an external speaker using alternative methods.

That extra sound from a home theatre or Bluetooth speaker can enhance your viewing experience, so let us show you how.

Vizio TVs vary according to the manufacturer, so you must plan ahead of time for yours. They have different sets of ports, and what you require for this connection will be determined by the ports on your TV.

Some televisions contain an aux port, which is a 3.5 mm headphone jack that can be used to output sound.

If this is the case, you should acquire a speaker with an Aux-in connector so you can plug your speaker and TV into one connection and enjoy the sound.

The majority of televisions offer both Aux and audio connectors.

The analog audio connectors are two, coloured red and white, and serve as outputs for independent analog signals that can be converted to digital by some adapters.

If your speaker has analog inputs, which most do, you can connect it indirectly.

Connect the red connector to the red port on your TV and speaker, then repeat with the white cable.

The colour coding in the wiring is universal; therefore, connecting the two devices should be simple.

If your speaker does not have analog audio connectors, you can connect the analog signal with an adaptor cable.

An adapter will combine the analog signals from two wires into a single digital signal that your speaker can use via the Aux input.

You will be able to experience the tranquillity of your home sound system as any other TV user by employing a cable.

While wires may become congested, they are quicker to join and will cause fewer connectivity and transmission issues in the future, so it may be worthwhile.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • After ensuring that the headsets are within 30 feet of the TV, hold down the Bluetooth toggle to begin pairing mode.
  • On the provided remote, navigate to the Settings menu.
  • Enter the Speaker List, select Sound Output, and then search for and select Headphones.
  • Selecting Pair & Connect.

No Bluetooth built-in

If your TV does not have built-in Bluetooth, you must first purchase a Bluetooth adaptor that is compatible with your TV before proceeding with the steps given below:

  • Connect the adaptor to the power supply.
  • Connect the adaptor to your Vizio TV.
  • Set the headsets to pairing mode (Use the booklet for mode-specific moves).
  • Configure Bluetooth pairing on your adaptor (Use the manual here too).
  • Make sure the adaptor and headsets are close to each other.

Does Vizio TV Have Bluetooth For Headphones/Speakers?

A few Vizio TVs include Bluetooth headphones. However, if you lack basic information, you may be unable to efficiently connect the headsets to your Vizio TV.

To use your Bluetooth headsets remotely, make sure they’re within 30 feet of each other. Then, don’t forget to press the Bluetooth button.

If your Vizio TV does not already have Bluetooth built-in, you will need to purchase and connect an additional Bluetooth adapter.

Can You Put A Bluetooth Adapter On Vizio TV?

You must purchase and connect the TV Bluetooth adaptor after checking that the TV is capable of doing so.

This device allows you to transfer audio without using Bluetooth on both the receiving and sending devices.

Link the devices after checking that the emitter is compatible with your Vizio-enabled Bluetooth. To do so, take these steps:

  • Along with the gadget, you should pair and switch off the TV and adaptor.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth transmitter before connecting it to your TV.
  • Both the TV and the Bluetooth device should be turned on.
  • Follow the instructions to pair an adaptor. Check that both the TV and the Bluetooth device are in pairing mode.
  • Check your Bluetooth adapter.

How To Join Wireless Headphones To Vizio TV With Bluetooth?

  • To begin the Bluetooth pairing process, turn on the headphones.
  • Navigate to the TV’s Menu Settings using the TV remote.
  • The Sounds Menu can be accessed by clicking on the Menu Settings button.
  • Click the Speakers tab to locate your Bluetooth headphones.
  • After selecting your headphones from the list, you are now ready to begin.

Should you buy a smart TV with Bluetooth capability?

Bluetooth functionality is added to most smart TVs by TV manufacturers. Bluetooth-enabled televisions may communicate with other Bluetooth-enabled devices such as speakers and PCs.

As a result, if wires are taking up too much space in your home, a smart TV with Bluetooth functionality may be the way to go.

Conclusion

No, Vizio TVs do not include Bluetooth. While they do support “low-energy Bluetooth,” that feature can only be used to sync your phone with Vizio SmartCast. Bluetooth headphones or speakers cannot be connected.

There are, however, two possible workarounds. The first method includes utilizing a Bluetooth transmitter, while the second involves using the “Audio Out” connector on the back of your Vizio TV.

I understand that this isn’t ideal for everyone, so I’ve compiled a list of additional TV manufacturers and models that come completely Bluetooth enabled.
